MONUMENTO AL PESCATORE

The monument to the fisherman was realized by Francesco Gennaro, sculptor from nearby Mazara del Vallo. Modelled in clay and later made in bronze it is 200 cm high and has a base of 80 cm. The monument pays tribute to the hard work of those who go to sea every day to hunt for fish. 
The marine activities of the territory have ancient traditions: The Tonnara (tuna fish warehouse) in nearby Sibiliana, which was given to the bishop of Mazara in 1144 by Re Ruggero functioned for many centuries.
