FONTANA LA MELAGRANA E LE RANE

The fontana melagrana e le rane - the pomegranate and frog fountain was made out of bronze by the artist  Nino Cordio (Santa Ninfa 1937-Rome 2000). Nino had a curious memory of his childhood spent in Santa Ninfa. .....he wanted to artistically represent this memory…in the pomegranate monument… (Vito Bellafiore).
The fruit of the pomegranate represents the metaphor of the rebirth Santa Ninfa after the earthquake, the pips united inside represent the strength of the population. The red colour of the juice symbolises the vitality and energy of the town which has reinvented itself.
