CHIESA MADRE
The modern church, dedicated to the patron saint of the town of Santa Ninfa is built on the remains of the previous Mother Church which was seriously damaged by the earthquake which hit the Belice Valley in 1968, and has encompassed part of that structure. The reconstruction in concrete was carried out between 1989 and 2006, to the plans of the architect Paolo Di Stefano from Santa Ninfa.
Of the pre-existing church, dating back to 1659 wanted by Simone Giardina, the four internal areas remain, three of which have niches, and part of the transept; two interesting sculptural groups from the eighteenth century, once held here and saved from earthquake, are now kept in the chiesa del Purgatorio (Church of Purgatory).
