ARCHIVIO STORICO E NOTARILE

The Conservatorio delle Orfane (orphanage) in San Giacomo (XVII century) holds the l’Archivio Storico Comunale- Town Historic Archive and the Fondo Notarile Notarial archive which are kept together in one big archive, dedicated to Virgilio Titone, a renowned historian and scholar from Castelvetrano (1905-1989).
The historic archive is made up of various articles, including the main one which includes Rolli(lists of buildings)from 1503 to the beginning of the 18th century, Acts, warrants, subjugations and Donations. The legal documents are made up of Acts, Minutes and “Bastardelli” (various records), collected in volumes of which the oldest dates back to the beginning of the XVI century.
It also holds the Fondo Titone – Titone fund , and the Fondo Centonze – Centonza fund
