CHIESA E MONASTERO DI SAN BENEDETTO

The complex, wished for by don Domenico Grifeo who started work on it in 1660, was noticeably restructured between 1745 and 1777, first with the realization of the cloister and secondly with the enlarging of the monastery. Of the church, demolished after the earthquake of 1968, today the large space of the single nave can be made out while of the monastery, the most monumental of the complexes of Partanna, the robust structure and the compact walled courtyard in sandstone have remained. Here the singular windows of the ground floor with, above them small draining arches, and the architraved doorway, and the balcony and windows of the second floor can be seen.
