CHIESA MADRE
The church is a masterpiece of the “Maniera italiana” in Sicily, after the 1968 earthquake the damaged parts were reconstructed. It looks out onto the square with a high façade in the central body and two sober lateral bell towers, resounding the internal division of a nave and two side aisles; two expansive style loggias (XVIII century) run round the perimeter walls, enlightening the imposing mural structure. The interior is decorated in a rich apparatus of stuccoes, carried out (1692-1729)mostly by Vincenzo Messina and sons Giaconda and Giovanni, of which the scenic and complex Trasfigurazione-Transfiguration by Vincenzo (1717), stands out behind the main altar; also interesting is the chapel of San Vito.
