De Oedipus Rex, Citta di Tebe, was created by Pietro Consagra in 1988 as a stage element for the performance of Edipo re, in the ruins of Gibellina Vecchia-Old Gibellina. The snow-white installation, recently given a suggestive illumination allows one to admire the project of “scultura frontale”- “frontal sculpture”, significantly represented also in the other works by artists present in Gibellina: Le porte del cimitero-the cemetery gates, La porta dell’Orto Botanico-the Botanic Garden gate, the marble Tris and La Stella.
