VILLA COMUNALE REGINA MARGHERITA

Town Park

This beautiful garden, initially belonging to the Padri Crociferi (crucifix fathers), built on two terraces on different sloping levels, belongs to those types of gardens on a landscape where the view itself seems to belong to the manmade elements. It became the town park after the Unification of Italy and offers a good view over the roofs of the historic centre and of the port which it is connected to by a stairway which goes as far as the Chiusa quarter. An intense light illuminates the park during the day, enticing visitors and making beautiful scenes framed by the date-palms and many exotic plants: There are also two impressive Ficus benjamina trees at the entrance to the park.
